Otley Pub Club have welcomed new landlord Jason Smith to the White Swan. Jason Smith, who also runs the Malt Shovel, in Menston – has taken over the pub and is keen to work with Otley Pub Club.
Pub Club Committee members donned Christmas jumpers and went along to support and promote the work Jason and the White Swan are doing for charity at the pub in the run-up to Christmas.
The Swan is doing a Christmas raffle for Marie Curie, £1 a ticket for a Christmas hamper. Plus the profit from all nuts and crisps goes to The Sick Children’s Trust. A really excellent example of how pubs support charities and up and down the country raise huge amounts every year.
As well as enjoying a pint and hearing about the charity work, the committee also were pleased to hear Jason’s plans for the pub, which are to keep it as a community local, celebrating the history of the pub and building on the current loyal custom.
Otley Pub Club Ambassador Bob Brook said:
“We are delighted to welcome Jason to the White Swan and look forward to working with him. It’s an early Christmas present that the White Swan and all the town’s pubs are open and we hope people will support our pubs and publicans over the festive season.”
Club President Greg Mulholland said:
“Otley Pub Club warmly welcome Jason to the Otley pub community and great to hear that how we wants the White Swan to thrive as a successful local pub. It’s also great to see the way the White Swan is supporting important charities, a reminder of how much pubs do for charity”.
Jason Smith, new landlord at the White Swan added:
“It was great to meet the club and tell them about our plans for the White Swan over the festive season and into the future. It’s a great pub and I’m delighted to be running it and looking forward to working with the pub club in supporting and celebrating Otley’s pub culture.”
