Hello OPC members and a special “welcome” to our new members. Here’s our December newsletter – we missed November (for obvious reasons), so we hope this finds you well. Once again, our sympathies and condolences go out to all who have been affected by the current pandemic.
Well, the pub situation is frustrating many of us I’m sure. Not at all surprised to see most of Otley put into T3 restrictions. Of course, we are hopeful that the Government announcements due on 16th Dec will ease the restrictions – so fingers crossed.
For the moment all of our pubs are closed, except for Takeaways (on which more later) and of course except for The Roebuck, opening soon (see below), up t’hill in North Yorks (T2) where you can have a drink with a substantial meal. But, please, please be aware of Government advice on travelling between Tier 3 and Tier 2 areas.

Horse and Farrier – Leasehold up for Sale
Otley Tavern – Whilst the freehold is up for sale (Offers in the region of £275k) – the pub is still operating, not least Stewie’s Kitchen for takeaways, during the current restrictions and intends to open again fully when restrictions are lifted. OPC have been informed by the director of the company that holds a lease on the business at the pub [Otley Tavern (Leeds) Ltd.] that they’ve just spent in excess of £30K on a refit, and that their lease still has 6 years left to run. They confirmed that the remainder of the lease will transfer to any new owners, and that they will continue to run the pub following the sale.

Rose & Crown – New tenants required
Stew & Oyster – Probably and understandably, news has reached OPC that a planning application has been submitted to convert the building into apartments. A loss yes, but at least the fabulous building will be put to good use and more customers in the town for the remaining pubs!
White Swan – Just a note that the refurb has taken place and everything inside is looking fantastic ready for opening whenever possible. No major structural changes it appears.
