Do you like a good whodunnit? Jo Nesbo or Ian Rankin maybe? Or maybe you’re missing a Harry Potter from your wizard collection. Have you watched Game of Thrones or His Dark Materials on TV and wondered about reading the books? Well all these and more will be in the Otley Pub Club Big Book Sale, starting in The Rose and Crown on Bondgate on Thursday March 2nd [which also happens to be World Book Day]. We’re just asking for donations to keep the Pub Club ticking over, and although the books have all been read once, many are like new. [Others we might just give away – 50 year old Michael Moorcocks, anybody?]
Children and dogs are very welcome in the Rose & Crown [not necessarily together, and preferably with a sensible older person tagging along!] And while you’re browsing, why not have a drink or a snack from the bar and stay as long as you like?
The pub’s open from midday every day (except closed Mondays), and you could just pick a book at random, then sit down and read a few pages over your coffee, and see if you like it. The sale’s on for over a week, or until the books run out [and if you’ve got any books at home that you’re unlikely to read again, we’d love as many more as we can get hold of and you can drop them off at the pub during opening hours.]
Otley Pub Club is a volunteer-run organisation with no regular income to support the running of the Club. So we’re hoping to raise much needed funds to finance our website, domain, emails etc. plus the Otley Ale Trail Leaflet production. All we’re asking is for a small donation to OPC funds. We suggest 50p for softback and £1 for hardback – or whatever you can afford.
Please bring cash as we do not have card-reader facilities for the book donations

Finally, any books that are not sold when we decide to end the sale will be offered to one or more charity shops in Otley – they will not be thrown away!
