Hi members,
A very special welcome to our new members. Getting a little bit chilly out there now so nice to see some Autumn sunshine today. So some late beer garden weather, then nearly time for many of our lovely pubs to get the fires lit! Now while I, like the next person, love the warm weather and sitting outside in the sun, I actually look forward to getting wrapped up and strolling down through Wharfemeadows Park to find a nice fireside to enjoy a lovely beer – mad I know!! A nice reminder that pubs are for all seasons!
Our Premier Membership cards are now ready for collection – see the details below. Also, news about an exciting new addition to the scheme – not to be missed! See below
OTLEY PUB NEWS
Rose & Crown – reopened and lovely!
Well – the long awaited opening took place last month and the feedback from almost everyone has been absolutely superb. Special mention go out to the quality of food being served – great stuff. Had to try it out myself of course and was certainly not disappointed. Great food and fantastically kept beers!
Bay Horse – refurb well under way and re-opening soon!
The builders are in and working hard putting gents toilets inside and sprucing the place up before opening. The helpful update we had from Hawthorn Leisure said told is that “the investment works are due to start on Monday 19th August to move the gents toilet inside and also that the site should be opening either w/c 9th September or at the very latest w/c 16th September, so it will definitely be open and trading for Otley Folk Festival and the OPC World Cycling Championships Pubs Nations event (see below). They also committed to having some Polish food on as they are Poland during Pub Nations!
World Cycling Championship PUB NATIONS! 21 – 29 September 2019
Only 3 weeks to go now until the start of the UCI Road Cycling World Championships! They’re centred on Harrogate, but as the women’s and men’s elite races both come through Otley – on Saturday and Sunday September 28th and 29th – we’re making sure all Otley’s pubs will be ready to welcome riders and visitors alike. Otley pubs and bars will be ‘twinned’ with a top cycling nation, with that nation’s flag and bunting displayed, and the pub name translated into the national language – where appropriate. Lots of pubs are participating in the upcoming weeks offering promotions and national food options! (Bandeja Paisa at The Royalty?) Not just the weekend of the event itself. Should be quite a spectacle – come down and have a look!
