CHOOSE A NAME FOR OTLEY PUBS, FOR THE QUEEN’S PLATINUM JUBILEE

You know how Otley Pub Club has a tradition of putting up banners over the name of pubs, to rename them for special occasions? Well occasions don’t come much more special than the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, so we’re planning to do it again as part of all the celebrations taking place in the town from the 2nd to the 5th of June. The difference is that this time we want you to come up with a single name that will hang outside every pub over that long holiday weekend.
In 2011, for the wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William all the pubs were called “The Yorkshire Princess”, and for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee the following year just “Queen Elizabeth”. So if you think you can do better, why not enter?
You can suggest any name at all – but disrespectful, jokey, or even republican ones are likely to be dismissed! We’re looking for something short and memorable that honours the Queen and/or respects her achievement of being the longest reigning monarch in British history. We’ll choose a shortlist of 20 that we think are the best, and then someone in town [yet to be decided, but not someone from Otley Pub Club] will choose the overall winner.
There’ll be a small prize [which will depend on the age of the winner!] so if you want to be informed if you win, you can add your contact details along with the suggested name. Or you can remain anonymous if that’s what you prefer. All details will be deleted anyway when the competition ends, and will not be used for any other purpose than identifying the winner.
The online questionnaire will be removed on Monday May 2nd, so hurry up and suggest your name at https://forms.gle/vf5QFvGa4USkbnwy8
