TWO MEET THE BREWER EVENTS BEFORE THE NEXT MEETING!
Just a quick note to let everyone know that the May OPC meeting and social event won’t be on the first Thursday of the month because the general election is taking place that day. That will let everybody get down to their local polling booth after work, and/or have an election night party at home.
But if you’ve had enough of politics already, and you’d rather sample some of the beers from Otley’s own brewery, get yourself down to The Horse and Farrier on Bridge Street that night. Brewer Paul Briscoe will be there, showcasing 4 of his home-brewed beers and telling you all about his brewery. The last event at the pub with Ilkley Brewery was very enjoyable, and this will be run on the same lines – free entry, and choose which beers you want to buy during the evening. Beers will be ‘Wheely Nice Beer’; ‘Yellow Jersey’; ‘Otley Gold’; and a dark beer (as yet unidentified!)
And before that, this Thursday, there’s a special event at The Otley Tap House with another very popular local Brewery – Saltaire. Here you’ll get a tutored tasting of a range of their real ales and bottled beers, from the Saltaire Brewery MD, Ewen Gordon. The beers and supper will all be included in the cost of £12, and availability is limited, so it’ll be best to book in advance.
THURSDAY APRIL 30, OTLEY TAP HOUSE, SALTAIRE BREWERY BEER TASTING AND SUPPER. 7:30 pm for an 8-o-clock start.
THURSDAY MAY 07, HORSE & FARRIER, MEET THE BREWER PAUL BRISCOE. 7:30 pm for an 8-o-clock start.
THURSDAY MAY 14, NEXT OPC SOCIAL – 8 pm, details to follow next week
MAY DAY WEEKEND
Don’t forget the dancing at Otley Maypole on May Day, Friday the 1st of May. The Buttercross Belles invite parents to bring their children to celebrate May Day in the traditional way. There will be a few demonstration dances followed by opportunities for children and others to join in a dance with ribbons around Otley’s historic Maypole.
For more information contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
[The Maypole is conveniently placed between The Otley Tap House, The White Swan, and The Manor House, all of which have outside areas – which will be nice as long as the weather’s fine!]
And of course on Sunday May 3rd there’s Otley Street Festival running from midday to 4pm, with music continuing in the Market Square til 9:30. And sometime between 3 and 5, the Tour de Yorkshire passes down West Chevin Road; along Birdcage Walk; and up the ‘Cote de Chevin’.
DON’T MISS IT!
