March Newsletter

Hi members and publicans,

OTLEY PUB NEWS

White Swan – refurbishment happening soon

The White Swan is going to have a 3 week refurbishment, so it will temporarily close for the work starting on Monday 23rd March (so do pop in for a drink before then, up to Sunday 22nd March!).  Jason and team hope to have the refurbished pub open around 14th April. Jason has involved Otley Pub Club and locals in the simple and tasteful refurbishment plans, which is appreciated (by Pub Club and locals alike!).

Black Horse – SPBW Winter Pub of the Year 2020

The Black Horse was awarded their award for Winter Pub of the Year by our friends, the West Riding branch of the Society for the Preservation of Beers from the Wood. So congratulations to Jen and team from us! We were delighted to join the presentation on Saturday!

The Society for the Preservation of Beers from the Wood, founded in 1963, is the oldest consumer-based group interested in stimulating the brewing of, increasing the awareness of, and encouraging the drinking of traditional cask ale. The Society also supports and encourages the use of wooden casks for beer dispense. See https://www.spbw.beer/

Rose and Crown – closed again but opening soon again!

The previous temporary operator decided to move on, but EI Group (Enterprise Inns as was) tell us it will be open again soon. Let’s hope so. We appreciated EI contacting us to let us know as soon as it closed, they told us “Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstance the publican who was holding the site over has had to pull out with immediate effect. We also have some maintenance work that is needed so this is currently been taken care off and the site is looking to re-open next week at the latest Friday”. So hopefully it will be open again very soon.

Whitakers – closed again but opening soon again!

As you’ll have seen, Whits is temporarily closed again. The sign in the window from Andy and Monica (who we presume are the new tenants?) says it will open again soon with a new kitchen and menu. We’ll keep you posted.
